The finished piece, floating in False Creek. It's not the best photo - I did take some photos with my DSLR which I will upload later on.

This project was a part of a continuing education course I took at Emily Carr University of Art & Design - "Environmental Installation: Working with Nature."

Additional steps involved weaving found leaves and flowers into the bamboo frame and willow branches. Here, more leaves have been added, including a bit from the large branch I had brought in.

The first part of this project involved constructing a bamboo frame, and then interlacing and weaving willow branches across the frame to act as a support. Bamboo, as a material, can float. All materials for this project were natural, including the string which was made from hemp.

In this photo, you can also see the large stick that I had brought. We weren't sure if the stick would provide too much weight for it overall, but in the end it still floated!
