With Non-Stop Shoes, Padrós looks at the energy potential of everyday routines such as walking, climbing stairs, and opening doors. Energy generated during the day by these activities is stored in the shoes and may be used later to power devices such as a lamp, a radio, or a fan. Containers could be used to collect energy from the shoes of a whole family to feed more powerful domestic appliances.
Design and the Elastic Mind, on exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art from February 24-May 12, 2008, explores the reciprocal relationship between science and design in the contemporary world by bringing together design objects and concepts that marry the most advanced scientific research with attentive consideration of human limitations, habits, and aspirations. The exhibition highlights designers’ ability to grasp momentous changes in technology, science, and history—changes that demand or reflect major adjustments in human behavior—and translate them into objects that people can actually understand and use.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) was founded in 1929 and is often recognized as the most influential museum of modern art in the world. Over the course of the next ten years, the Museum moved three times into progressively larger temporary quarters, and in 1939 finally opened the doors of its midtown home, located on 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in midtown.
MoMA's holdings include more than 150,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, architectural models and drawings, and design objects. Highlights of the collection inlcude Vincent Van Gogh's The Starry Night, Salvador Dali's The Persisence of Memory, Pablo Picasso's Les Demoiseels d'Avignon and Three Musicians, Claude Monet's Water Lilies, Piet Mondrian's Broadway Boogie Woogie, Paul Gauguin's The Seed of the Areoi, Henri Matisse's Dance, Marc Chagall's I and the Village, Paul Cezanne's The Bather, Jackson Pollack's Number 31, 1950, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. I am working on making pins from recycled aluminum cans. they involve many layers, sewing, gluing, and even a tiny heart bead on the green one.

I find photography difficult. I am please with how this side view came out. It shows the layering of the felt, and EVA foam, and the shadow was totally unplanned!

For our first project in my FINA 2135 course titled "Design in Contemporary Art" we had to shoot "...15 photographs of the world around (us), looking for distinct, clear design and composition elements to be used as a source to create abstract compositions using Adobe Illustrator." The aim of the project was to "...sensitize the eye to the world as a source of inspiration for design."
In taking the photographs, we had to consider a number of elements including "...shape, the use of negative space to create shape, repeating patterns, clear colour forms, arrangement and the use of unusual angles, closeups or exaggerated perspectives."
